Seven anchor mechanics

What the platform actually runs on.

Each card is one of the seven anchor mechanics shipping at launch. The other fourteen catalog entries live at /features. Everything goes live when the first 500 Founders are seated.

Defense

Stolen Car Alert.

Owner reports. Admin verifies. Push goes to a radius. Tips route to police.

A build gets stolen in Toronto at 3 am. The owner opens Idle, files a report with VIN, plate, and last-seen. An admin verifies in minutes -- because every member is identifiable, not a Facebook throwaway. A push notification goes to every member inside a configurable radius -- 25 km default, broader for chassis-specific alerts. Tips route directly to Crime Stoppers with a reference number. The broadcaster gets attribution if the car is recovered.

This is what a community can do that police plus Carfax plus insurance cannot: turn the 23,000 people already watching for these cars into a live recovery network.

Identity

Vehicle DNA Profile.

A VIN-tied permanent record. Build log, dyno, service. Transfers with the car.

Every meaningful event on the car tied to a verification source. Service log entries witnessed by the installing shop. Dyno pulls attached to the dyno session. Track Day entries pulled from RSVP-and-attended evidence. First-Owner status confirmed at acquisition.

When the car changes hands, the DNA transfers automatically with the title. The "this car has receipts" credential a serious buyer pays a premium for, captured once and never lost.

Marketplace

The Call Board.

"Need a thing done." Members post the ask. Vendors and members respond.

A live feed of open requests. Need a photographer for a Cherry Beach meet next Sunday. Need a shop with the right scan tool for a B8 chain-tension check. Need 100 vinyl stickers printed for a build series. Need a concours detailer in Hamilton before the show.

Members post the job. Vendors and capable members inside the radius see the request and respond. Lower-friction than a vendor inquiry form, more public than a DM, more accountable than a Facebook thread. The platform takes no cut on these matches in v1 -- the value is the routing.

Marketplace

Modded Price Database.

Sold-listing archive. Real comps for modded cars Carfax cannot price.

Carfax and Hagerty Valuation handle stock cars. They cannot price a B7 RS4 with APR Stage 2, a Mk7 Golf R with IS38 + Stage 2.5, or a B5 S4 with a K04 swap. The Modded Price Database is the first true comp-set for cars the legacy valuation tools refuse to acknowledge.

Every sold listing on Idle stays in the archive permanently. Each comp carries the mod list, kilometers, region, sale date, and the verified chassis-level DNA score. Buyers know what to offer. Sellers know what to ask. Nobody is bidding in the dark.

Marketplace

Trust Score.

Community-built reputation across listings, comments, verified installs.

Four tiers: New, Verified, Trusted, Legend. Tied to verified ownership, clean transactions, and documented installs. The score cannot be gamed with throwaway accounts because every interaction is anchored to a VIN, a verified shop receipt, or a witnessed Track Day.

Buyers see this next to every listing. Vendors see it next to every inquiry. It is the reason a stranger on Facebook is a coin flip and a member on Idle is not.

Identity

Member Number Picker.

Pick your permanent number at signup. Lower means older. Forever.

You pick your member number from the open slots at signup. Lower numbers mean older members. Once taken, never re-issued. Numbers below 500 are Founder slots, reserved for the first 500 members and held permanently.

Your number goes next to your name everywhere you comment, list, or message. It is the only social proof on the platform that cannot be bought, faked, or churned. The scarcity is the credential.

Identity

Build Pile + Group Buy.

Your wishlist of parts. A view of what every chassis-twin is piling.

Your Build Pile is the shortlist of parts you want for the car. It is also a social-discovery surface: every other owner of your chassis is piling their own parts, and the platform shows you what they are stacking. B8 owner? See what every B8 is building, what they actually installed, and what they sold off six months later.

Once a part hits a member-volume threshold across the chassis cohort, a vendor group buy triggers automatically. Apex Euro already runs this pattern manually for B7 RS4 carbon. The platform makes it native for every chassis.

Why I'm building this.

Car people deserve a home that isn't Facebook.

The algorithm decides who sees what. The data goes wherever Meta wants it to go. The reach the scene built has nowhere to go. Vendors who put real work into their products have no way to reach the community without paying Facebook. Members who modify their cars and document the history have no place where that record survives the next platform change.

So I'm building one.

Idle is the home base. Documented builds, parts for sale, vendor releases you've been waiting for, events, dyno days, track days. Marketplace, vendors, events, groups, photographers, DJs. Every part of the modded scene under one roof, helping each other out.

Your data is not for sale. What the platform learns about the scene goes to the vendors on it, so they can build better products for the cars members actually drive. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone else. As long as I am operating this.

It is not for street takeover. Not for flippers. Not for scammers. Not for the people who race in the streets and make the whole scene look bad. It is for car people who modify their cars, go to meets, find their groups, buy and sell legitimately. The platform needs to work for everyone except scumbags.

2026

Why this is differentiation, not compliance.

Every other platform either condones takeover content (Instagram car pages, YouTube car channels, TikTok) or doesn't have an enthusiast audience to apply policy to (mainstream marketplaces). Idle's clean-content policy is a positioning lever that speaks to five different stakeholders at once.

Compliance is the floor. Differentiation is the lever. Both are true. We chose the lever.

Founding Groups.

The first 50 groups to onboard their existing audience to Idle lock the permanent "Founding Group" badge. Your members get a home base that isn't Facebook. You get the perk stack: early access to every new feature, every Seasonal Drop forty-eight hours before everyone else, exclusive giveaways for your members, physical merch drops (stickers, NFC build-link cards, group regalia), first pick on group-level vendor placements, and ambassador commission on the first month of any vendor you onboard once paid tiers turn on.

Any marque, anywhere in North America. GTA VWAudi is the seeding group. Your scene is welcome.

Group claim requests are reviewed manually. Fill out the form below and Alex will reach out within 48 hours.

For shops, vendors, tuners.

$0 during the launch ramp Paid tiers TBD at launch

Vendor onboarding is free during the launch ramp. No fee, no contract, no auto-billing. You get your shop profile, lead routing from member listings, a vendor inbox for buyer questions, eligibility for Sunday Issue features, and analytics on every member who clicked, saved, or messaged you. The platform earns trust before it asks for money.

Founding Partner status is capped at twelve. Permanent badge, founding-tier pricing locked in when paid tiers turn on. Affirmative payment consent required before any card is charged. If you do not want to convert, the Community Vendor tier preserves your profile and reviews indefinitely.

Founding Partner status is capped at twelve, opening when vendor onboarding begins.

For photographers.

We're building a curated roster of Ontario-based car photographers. Real builds, real locations, golden hour. No stock. No AI. Paid bookings through the platform starting launch day.
